Pune: A 19-year-old youth, trapped in a river under the Mundhwa bridge, was successfully rescued by the Fire Brigade team early Thursday morning, March 20.
According to the Fire Brigade, the young man was stuck in the middle of the river, beneath the Mundhwa bridge, and was calling out for help. The Fire Brigade control room received the distress call at around 6:15 AM. A rescue vehicle was promptly dispatched from the B.T. Kawade Road station, which is located near the Mundhwa Bridge.
Upon reaching the scene, the rescue team found the young man struggling to get out of the water. Without hesitation, the firemen entered the river using a rope, life jacket, and life ring. They managed to reach him, reassured him, and, after a brief conversation, successfully pulled him to safety within 15 minutes.
However, the exact circumstances surrounding how he ended up in the river remain unclear. The rescue operation was carried out by Driver Nilesh Bhosale, Tandel Ambadas Darade, and Firemen Sandeep Jagtap, Satish Potghan, and Kunal Ithape.
