Pune: A tragic accident occurred on Monday around 12 PM on D.Y. Patil College Road in Lohegaon, resulting in the death of a 22-year-old biker. The victim, identified as Swapnil Prakash Salve, was crushed under the rear wheels of a dumper after being hit near Hindustan Kirana, Moze Nagar Lane No. 3.
Swapnil was riding his motorcycle (MH 14 MD 6357) from Dudulgaon to Kesnand when the dumper (MH 12 RM 4558), driven by Venkata Gurappa Pawar, struck him. The impact led to Swapnil being pinned beneath the vehicle, causing his death on the spot.
The driver of the dumper fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police. Swapnil, a resident of Yavat, Daund, Pune, was pursuing a B. Pharm degree at Gyanvilas College of Pharmacy in Dudulgaon. He lived in Kesnand with friends and worked at a medical shop in Chandan Nagar. His sudden and tragic death has left the local community in shock.
Madhav Dhondiba Sable, a resident of MIDC Dongre Vasti, Nighoj, Chakan, filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered against Venkata Gurappa Pawar under IPC Sections 106, 281, and MV Act 184. Senior Police Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari and Sub-Inspector Akshay Sonawane are leading the ongoing investigation.
