Pune: A shocking incident has come to light from Lonavala, where a 23-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving car. The survivor, a local resident, was attacked by three men, including the driver. The Lonavala City Police registered a case on Saturday afternoon and arrested one of the accused within twelve hours of receiving the complaint. According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday. The woman was walking near the Narayani Dham temple in Tungarli around 9 p.m. when a car approached and three unknown men forcibly stopped her. They allegedly gagged her, forcibly pushed her into the vehicle, tied her hands, snatched her mobile phone, and physically assaulted her.
The three men then took turns raping her inside the moving car. After the crime, they abandoned her in a deserted area by the roadside. Following the incident, the survivor underwent a medical examination, and a formal complaint was filed in the afternoon.
Lonavala City Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. One of the accused has been arrested, while a manhunt is underway to nab the remaining two. Police Inspector Rajesh Ramaghare confirmed the developments and assured that efforts to trace the other culprits are in full swing.
