Pune: A 25-year-old man was discovered dead in a lodge in the Chandan Nagar area, with the exact cause of death yet to be determined. Police have stated that the deceased had a history of alcohol consumption.
The man has been identified as Akash Sunil Sabale (25), a resident of Chandan Nagar on Pune-Nagar Road. The Chandan Nagar Police Station has registered an accidental death report in connection with the incident. Preliminary information suggests that Akash had consumed alcohol before arriving at the lodge.
According to officials, Akash was known to have an alcohol addiction. On March 14, he played cricket with friends before consuming alcohol. Later, he visited “Shree Lodge” in the Pathare Mla area of Chandan Nagar, a place he frequented after drinking. Upon reaching the lodge, he reportedly consumed more alcohol. His friends, who were with him at the time, took his money and handed it over to his family. He had also mentioned to his friends that he was feeling unwell.
The following morning, on March 15, his friends checked on him at the lodge and found him unresponsive. Initially assuming he was asleep, they left but returned later that afternoon when they noticed he had still not moved. Growing concerned, they alerted the police. Upon arrival, authorities rushed Akash to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had passed away before receiving medical attention.
Police have registered an accidental death report and questioned Akash’s family, who stated they had no suspicions regarding his friends. CCTV footage from the lodge has been reviewed, and further investigation is ongoing.
