Pune: A joint inspection by the Pune District SPCA, Chief Veterinary Officer, and police personnel revealed a shocking case of animal hoarding at the Marvel Bounty Co-operative Housing Society on February 13, 2025. Based on a formal complaint from residents, authorities inspected Flat C 901, owned by Rinku Bhardwaj and Ritu Bhardwaj.
Upon entering the flat, the authorities discovered that over 300 cats were living in the 3.5 BHK apartment. The premises were heavily contaminated with cat feces and emitted an unbearable foul odor. The inspection was followed by a detailed panchnama (official report) conducted by the veterinary officer and their team.
In response to the situation, the owners were instructed to relocate the cats within the next 48 hours. The authorities have taken stringent action to ensure that the living conditions are addressed and that the welfare of the animals is taken into account. The case has raised serious concerns about animal welfare and residential safety. Further investigation and follow-up actions are expected in the coming days.
