Pune: High drama unfolded at the Pune Police Commissioner’s office during Minister Tanaji Sawant’s visit, particularly during his media interaction. Sawant had met with the Police Commissioner and Joint Commissioner of Police to discuss the disappearance of his son, Rushiraj. However, his varying statements later drew attention, creating confusion and speculation.
Initially, Sawant stated that his concern arose after Rushiraj sent him a message at 4 p.m. inquiring about the location of some keys. Later, he mentioned that he had tried calling his son, only to find his phone switched off. Additionally, he claimed his driver informed him that Rushiraj had been dropped off at the airport. At another point, Sawant expressed distress over his son’s lack of communication, further adding to the inconsistencies in his statements.
Police Investigation and Revelations
The police were reportedly taken aback when it was confirmed that Rushiraj had left for Bangkok with two friends.
Addressing the media, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma stated, “The investigation is underway, and the crime branch is actively working on the case. A case of kidnapping has been registered, and further details will be shared in due course.”
Interestingly, Sawant initially suggested that his son’s phone being switched off was a cause for concern. Later, he asserted that Rushiraj had not used his personal vehicle, which led him to suspect a possible kidnapping. However, he also admitted that his driver had dropped Rushiraj at the airport. When questioned about his son’s travel plans, Sawant simply stated that he had no knowledge of Rushiraj’s trip to Bangkok, leaving many unanswered questions.
