Pune: Actor Rahul Solapurkar has continued his series of controversial statements about revered figures. After making objectionable remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he has now made comments against Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, which are believed to be undermining social harmony in Maharashtra. The Republican Party of India (Athawale) has demanded the filing of a sedition charge against Solapurkar and held an intense protest outside his house today.
The protest was led by RPI city president Sanjay Sonawane, regional organizational secretary Parshuram Wadgekar, Shailendra Chavan, Asit Gangurde, Mahendra Kamble, Mandar Joshi, Baswaraj Gaikwad, former deputy mayor Sunita Wadgekar, Mahipal Waghmare, Sham Sadaphule, Viren Sathe, Sham Gaikwad, Nilesh Alhat, Akshay Gaikwad, Avinash Kadam, Avinash Gaikwad, Umesh Kamble, Akash Bahule, Appa Wadekar, Khandu Shinde, Mina Galte, Kothrud President Vasantrao Owhal, Keshav Paule, Balasaheb Khankal, Deepak Sagar, Gangadhar Owhal, Datta Chavan, Arvind Shinde, Nilesh Agale, Ujwala Sarvgaud, Anna Lokhande, Vilas Patole, B.P. Shejwal, Pasote Mama, Shivaji Kamble, Bapu Gore, Mahadev Khalge, Swapnil Jadhav, Govind Sathe, Nilesh Agale, Rohit Kamble, and Ramesh Telwade, along with many RPI office bearers and activists.
Speaking at the protest, Parshuram Wadgekar stated that Rahul Solapurkar is deliberately making controversial remarks to disrupt social harmony in Maharashtra. He said, “The person who has played the role of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj surely knows who Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is. Yet, this person continues to make controversial statements. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must immediately file charges of atrocity and sedition against him and arrest him.”
City president Sanjay Sonawane added, “Rahul Solapurkar’s statement is utterly condemnable. He is intentionally making controversial remarks against our revered leaders. The police and state government should not support him, should immediately reduce his police protection, and file a sedition charge against him, sending him straight to police custody.”
