Pune: In a disturbing turn of events, two businessmen brothers, Mukesh Bhawarlal Shah (47) and Piyush Mukesh Shah (24), have been arrested in Kondhwa for a series of criminal activities involving fraud and theft. The incidents, which took place between May 2024 and February 11, 2025, have left the local community in shock.
A complaint was filed by Vicky Parmar (38), a resident of Rajgruhi Residency, Kondhwa Budruk, at the Kondhwa Police Station, detailing two separate but related criminal acts. According to the police report, the accused brothers, who are wholesale traders for the well-known Britannia Biscuit Company, had lured Parmar into investing Rs 1.26 crore in a biscuit wholesale dealership business under the pretext of offering a lucrative 24% annual profit. However, after making the investment, Parmar realized that he had been duped.
In a separate shocking incident, the accused brothers were involved in a daring theft at a local Jain temple in Rajgruhi Residency. The accused, who also served as treasurers of the temple, allegedly stole Rs 18 lakh in cash and 350 grams of gold biscuits from the donation box. The theft was carried out without the knowledge of the temple president and other members, leaving the community stunned.
The case of financial fraud involving Parmar’s investment and the temple theft totals a staggering Rs 1.65 crore. Further investigation into both incidents is underway under the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawde of Kondhwa Police Station.
The brothers have been charged under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Indian Penal Code for their involvement in these criminal activities. Authorities are continuing their probe into the matter as they look to uncover further details of the brothers’ illicit actions.
