Pune: In a major crackdown on illegal slaughter activities, Pune police raided a slaughterhouse in the Lashkar Camp area, leading to the seizure of four live indigenous cattle, two tons of meat, and multiple vehicles. The operation, conducted on February 16, 2025, at 6 a.m., was based on a tip-off regarding large-scale slaughtering of indigenous cattle in Bhimpura Camp.
During the raid, authorities also confiscated a two-wheeler, two rickshaws, 100 kg of cattle fat disguised as Dalda, and sharp-edged weapons. A case has been registered against seven individuals under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act, Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and Motor Vehicle Act at Lashkar police station, Pune.
The rescued cattle were safely relocated to Sarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite Gosala in Zendevadi. The operation was led by Police Sub-Inspector Shekhar Mokate, under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Girish Dighavkar, with assistance from Nikhil Darekar, Mangesh Chimkar, Shadab Mulani, and other special task force members. Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Hanumant Tarte.
