Pimpri-Chinchwad: A 21-year-old student died by suicide after jumping from the Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro Station, reportedly due to financial distress. The tragic incident occurred on Monday (February 24) around 6 PM when a passing vehicle fatally ran over him after he landed on the road.
The deceased has been identified as Sujal Sanjay Mankar (21), a resident of Rajgurunagar. He was a final-year BCS student at D.Y. Patil College, according to Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlak. Officials stated that Sujal’s family had been struggling with severe financial difficulties, which had worsened over time.
On Monday evening, Sujal entered the metro station platform and jumped onto the road through a duct. Eyewitnesses saw him fall, after which a moving vehicle ran over him. Alarmed by the incident, bystanders rushed him to YCM Hospital, but doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.
During the investigation, police found a suicide note in which Sujal mentioned that he was taking this extreme step due to financial troubles at home. Authorities have registered the case and are conducting further inquiries.
