Pune: The Khadak Police in Pune have launched a significant crackdown against notorious Matka King Nandu Naik by invoking the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act. This comes after a series of raids targeting his illegal gambling dens in the Shukrawar Peth area of the city.
Despite multiple law enforcement efforts to curb his activities, Naik has continued his operations. Earlier this month, in the first week of March, the municipal corporation’s anti-encroachment department demolished one of his illegal structures.
The police have carried out numerous raids—at least 7 to 8 times—on his properties. However, Naik has repeatedly managed to restart his gambling operations within days. The recent action under the MPDA Act was taken by a team led by Shashikant Chauhan, API Harshal Kadam, and other law enforcement officers.
