Pune: A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 10,000 for raping a minor girl after threatening to kill her and assaulting her. The accused, identified as Bhimrao Mukinda Kamble (27, resident of Sandas, Taluka Kalmanuri, District Hingoli), committed the crime in 2017 in Fursungi.
Taking advantage of the darkness and the absence of anyone in the house, Kamble entered the victim’s home. He physically assaulted the minor, threatened to kill her, and then raped her. Following the incident, the victim became pregnant.
The minor victim filed a complaint at the Hadapsar Police Station, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Assistant Police Inspector Kalyan Shinde investigated the case and submitted the charge sheet to the court.
After examining the evidence, Special Judge (POCSO) of the Pune District and Sessions Court sentenced Bhimrao Kamble to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Friday, March 21. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the accused.
The prosecution was represented by Adv. Vilas Ghogare-Patil, Police Inspector Sambhaji Mhange, and A.J. Gosavi. In recognition of their efforts, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde announced a reward of Rs. 10,000 for Police Inspector Mhange, Gosavi, and investigating officer Shinde.
