Scorching Heat Wave Hits Pune as Mercury Crosses 41°C Relief Expected Soon

Pune: The city is experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring past 41°C in several areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shirur recorded the highest temperature on March 26 at 41.6°C, followed closely by Lohgaon and Dhamdhere at 41.4°C.

Maximum Temperatures in Pune (March 26, 2025):
Shirur: 41.6°C

Lohgaon: 41.4°C

Dhamdhere: 41.4°C

Koregaon Park: 40.8°C

Dudulgaon: 40.0°C

Purandar: 39.6°C

Magarpatta: 39.5°C

Chinchwad: 39.2°C

Wadgaonsheri, Dapodi: 38.7°C

Shivajinagar, Pashan: 38.6°C

The IMD forecasts mostly clear skies for the next few days, but partial cloud cover from March 28 could bring some relief.

March 27: Mostly clear skies

March 28 – April 1: Clear mornings, with cloudy conditions in the afternoons and evenings

Heatwave Advisory: Precautions for Residents
Authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions as extreme heat conditions persist. The IMD recommends:

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Limit Sun Exposure: Avoid stepping out between 12 PM – 4 PM when the heat is most intense.

Wear Light Clothing: Opt for loose, breathable, and light-colored attire.

Protect Vulnerable Groups: Children, senior citizens, and individuals with health conditions should minimize heat exposure.

With Pune facing its first major heatwave of the season, residents are advised to remain cautious and follow safety measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.
