Pune: A man residing in a premium housing society in Kolwadi has been penalized ₹10,000 and ordered to compensate ₹5,000 to the victim for harassing women. The verdict was delivered by the District and Sessions Court in Shivajinagar.

The accused, Siddheshwar Biradar (30), was found guilty of making obscene remarks, disturbing women over phone calls, and displaying inappropriate behavior within the society premises. Women residing in the society lodged a complaint at the Lonikand police station, reporting that Biradar would stand on his balcony in his underwear, stare at women, and pass lewd comments.

Taking the matter seriously, the police conducted a prompt investigation, completing the process within 24 hours. The charges were filed in the Shivajinagar court on March 25.

During the court proceedings, testimonies from the complainant and witnesses confirmed the allegations. Biradar pleaded guilty, following which the court imposed a ₹10,000 fine and directed him to pay ₹5,000 as compensation. Additionally, he was ordered to remain in court until the session concluded. In case of non-payment of the fine, he would face 11 days of simple imprisonment.

The case was investigated under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar from Lonikand police station. The investigation was led by Woman Assistant Inspector Vijaya Pandit Wanjari, with support from constables Ashish Lohar and Vitthal Kedari.

The swift police response and the court’s rapid judgment emphasize the stringent measures being taken against harassment cases in Pune.
