Pune: In a shocking incident, a coconut water vendor verbally abused a senior citizen without any reason, slapped him on the cheek, and even threatened him with a sharp coconut-peeling knife before biting his hand. A case has been registered at the Market Yard police station in connection with this incident.
The accused coconut water vendor has been identified as Ritesh Shriram Balipathak (40), a resident of Premnagar, Market Yard, Pune. A complaint in this matter was lodged by Chandrakant Raghunath Mohol (63), a resident of Teen Hatti Chowk, Dhankawadi, Pune, at the Market Yard police station. Based on his complaint, the police have filed a case.
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday, March 30, around 11 AM. The complainant, Mohol, had stopped near Gate No. 1 of the Market Yard bus stop to drink coconut water when the vendor, Balipathak, started abusing him for no reason. The accused then slapped Mohol on the cheek and brandished a sharp coconut-peeling knife at him. When the complainant resisted, the accused bit Mohol’s left palm, injuring him in the process.
Following the complaint, the police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
Assistant Police Inspector Misal visited the incident site, and further investigation is being carried out by Police Constable Desai.
