Pune: The Kalepadal Police successfully apprehended a hit-and-run suspect within 10 hours of a fatal accident that occurred in Undri, Pune, on April 1, 2025. The victim, Sujitkumar Baswantprasad Singh (49), a resident of Vidyaniketan, Undri, was struck by an unidentified vehicle between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM near Nyati Ebony Society in Undri. The driver fled the scene, leaving Singh critically injured.
The Kalepadal Police responded promptly and rushed Singh to Sassoon Hospital, where he was later declared dead. A case was registered at Kalepadal Police Station under multiple IPC and Motor Vehicle Act sections.
A special investigation team, after reviewing CCTV footage, identified the suspect’s vehicle as a grey Tata Nexon. Through RTO records, police traced the vehicle’s registration to Sameer Ganesh Kad, a resident of Kadnagar, Undri. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had removed the number plates and hidden the vehicle in a remote area of Autadewadi, Pune.
The accused, Sameer Kad, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized. Police Sub-Inspector Anil Nimbalkar is leading the ongoing investigation. The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, ACP Dnyaneshwar Godse, and Senior Inspector Mansingh Patil, with critical support from officers Amar Kalange, API Amit Shete, Shahid Shaikh, Atul Pandharkar, and others.
