Pune: A habitual offender has been arrested for illegal possession of a country-made pistol, along with two live cartridges. The operation was carried out by the Sinhagad Road Police Investigation Team.
The arrested individual has been identified as Sahil Martand Sakhare (23), a resident of Dangat Chawl, Sai Chowk, Vadgaon Budruk. Several criminal cases have been registered against him in the past.
According to police sources, constables Sagar Shedge and Deva Chavan were patrolling when they received a tip-off about Sakhare carrying a country-made firearm. Based on this information, they learned that he was traveling along Sinhagad Road.
Acting swiftly, the police set up a trap and intercepted him. Upon searching him, officers found a country-made pistol and two live cartridges in his possession. The police have launched further investigations to determine the source of the firearm.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sambhaji Kadam and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abhay Parmar. It was executed by Senior Police Inspector Dilip Daingade from Sinhagad Road Police Station, along with Crime Branch Inspector Uttam Bhajanawale, Assistant Inspector Sachin Nikam, and Sub-Inspectors Santosh Bhandwalkar, Sanjay Shinde, Uttam Taru, Anna Kekaan, Vikas Bandal, Ganesh Jhagde, Amol Patil, Nilesh Bhorde, and Rahul Olekhar.
The accused is currently in police custody as further investigation continues.
