Pune: A shocking incident has come to light in Pune, where a pregnant woman lost her life allegedly due to negligence and denial of timely treatment by Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The Maharashtra State Commission for Women has taken serious note of the case and ordered an inquiry. Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar stated that the Pune Municipal Commissioner has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a factual report to the Commission.

The pregnant woman, Tanisha Sushant Bhise, had approached Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital for treatment. However, the hospital reportedly demanded an immediate deposit of Rs 10 lakh from her family. Despite the family expressing their willingness to pay Rs 3 lakh, the hospital allegedly denied admission, citing the need for a critical surgery.

Following this, the woman was rushed to another hospital where she gave birth to twin girls. Tragically, she later succumbed to her condition. The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the state, particularly because the hospital operates as a trust and is expected to serve underprivileged patients.

Tanisha Bhise’s husband, Sushant Bhise, is a personal assistant to BJP MLA Amit Gorakhe. Given the serious nature of the case and the public anger it has provoked, the National Commission for Women has also taken cognizance of the matter.

Citizens and social activists have raised serious concerns over the hospital’s conduct, questioning how a trust-run hospital could deny critical care based on financial demands. The investigation is expected to shed light on the hospital’s actions and determine accountability in this tragic case.
