Pune: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has been serving rural areas around Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, extending its services to the PMRDA jurisdiction. Recently, multiple complaints and suggestions have been raised by citizens’ forums, PMPML passenger groups, social organizations, and public representatives concerning the behavior of
PMPML and private contractor bus drivers and conductors. Key concerns include drivers using mobile phones while driving, stopping buses at zebra crossings, smoking on buses, failing to update route boards, not following lane discipline, and jumping traffic signals.
In response to these grievances, PMPML has issued clear directives to its drivers and conductors, following instructions from the Chairman and Managing Director. The new guidelines emphasize the importance of drivers not using mobile phones while operating buses, strictly following traffic rules, avoiding smoking on buses, ensuring buses are parked properly at bus stops, maintaining lane discipline, and driving at safe speeds.
PMPML has warned that failure to comply with these rules will result in disciplinary actions, including suspension, following a thorough investigation into any complaints.
