Pune: Pune’s notorious gangster Nilesh Ghaywal was attacked during a village fair (jatra) in Dharashiv district. The attack was carried out by a wrestler while Ghaywal was interacting with wrestlers and event organizers at the wrestling arena.
The incident took place in Andrud village of Bhoom taluka, Dharashiv district, where Nilesh Ghaywal had come to attend the annual fair organized in honor of the village deity, Jagdamba Devi. A traditional wrestling event was part of the celebrations, drawing wrestlers from across the state.
As Ghaywal approached the wrestling arena to meet the wrestlers, a sudden attack was launched on him by a wrestler. The attack occurred while a famous wrestler named Thapa was engaged in a bout, leading to a large crowd of wrestling fans near the ring.
The exact reason behind the attack on Ghaywal remains unknown at this time.
Nilesh Ghaywal is a notorious figure with over 10 serious criminal cases registered against him. These include charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), as well as cases of murder, attempted murder, extortion, armed robbery, rioting, grievous assault, and abduction. He and his associates also face a case of kidnapping and extortion filed at the Bhigwan Police Station.
