Pune: In a bold display of law enforcement, Pune Police on Saturday evening paraded local gangster Rizwan alias Tipu Sattar Pathan and his associates through the Sayyad Nagar area of Hadapsar. The move was aimed at sending a clear message to criminal elements operating in the city.
The public parade was organized by the Kalepadal Police Station, following serious allegations of land grabbing and intimidation. A woman from the locality had filed a complaint accusing Tipu Pathan and his aides—Saddam Salim Pathan, Ejaz Yusuf Inamdar, and Nadeem Babur Khan—of forcibly occupying her land. Acting on the complaint, police arrested all four accused.
Tipu Pathan was already under scrutiny after a video of him throwing currency notes during a public event recently went viral, drawing widespread criticism. Authorities had registered a separate case against him and his group in connection with that incident.
Saturday’s public parade was led by Senior Police Inspector Manasingh Patil, who emphasized that such measures are intended to deter criminal behavior and reinforce public trust. “This action is a strong warning to those who think they can operate above the law. We urge citizens to report any instances of threats, extortion, or illegal land occupation,” Patil stated.
Police officials reiterated their dedication to upholding law and order, assuring that strict action will be taken against habitual offenders who create fear within the community.
The move has been welcomed by residents, many of whom see it as a positive step toward reclaiming public safety and deterring anti-social elements.
