Pune: Tourists heading to Mahabaleshwar between May 2 and May 4 are in for a treat, as the scenic hill station gets ready to host the Mahabaleshwar Mahaparyatan Mahotsav 2025. To encourage tourism during this three-day celebration, the Maharashtra government has announced a complete toll exemption for all visitors. This update was shared by Sub-Divisional Officer Rajendra Kachre during a review meeting held at the Honey Directorate Hall in Mahabaleshwar.
Organized by the state’s Tourism Department, the grand festival will be inaugurated by Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar gracing the occasion on the opening day.
The festival promises a vibrant cultural experience:
On May 3, a traditional cultural parade will light up Sabne Rasta.
On May 4, the final day will showcase captivating folk performances such as Lavani, Gondal, Jagar, and Dhol Vadan. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde is expected to attend.
To elevate the tourist experience, several additional attractions are planned:
Free gifts will be handed out to tourists.
Over 100 ornately designed tents, inspired by Gujarat’s iconic Kutch setup, will be installed.
Adventure activities and water sports will be held at Venna Lake.
A national-level tourism symposium will bring together travel experts, agents, and guides to discuss Maharashtra’s tourism potential.
A thematic display will highlight the historical and cultural significance of Maharashtra’s forts.
Officials believe that the toll and parking fee waivers, combined with the immersive cultural program, will significantly boost footfall and elevate the overall visitor experience. Key officials including Hanumant Hede from the State Tourism Development Corporation, Tehsildar Tejaswini Patil, and Chief Officer Yogesh Patil were present at the planning discussions.
With comprehensive preparations underway, Mahabaleshwar is gearing up to offer a memorable celebration that blends tradition, adventure, and hospitality in the heart of the Sahyadris.
