Pune: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, the investigation team of Vishrambaug Police Station apprehended a suspect in possession of an illegal firearm in Shaniwar Peth, Pune. Acting on specific information, the police detained the individual at Bhawani Peth. Upon search, officials discovered a country-made (Gavathi) pistol worth approximately ₹50,000 and one live cartridge.
The operation was conducted under the able leadership of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Praveen Kumar Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Circle 1) Sandip Singh Gill. Assistant Commissioner of Police Sainath Thombare and Senior Police Inspector Vijaymala Pawar closely monitored the action.
The investigation team included Police Inspector (Crime) Arun Ghodke, PSI Manoj Barure, and police personnel Ashok Mane, Mayur Bhosale, Sachin Kadam, Sachin Ahiwale, Ganesh Kathe, Ashish Kharat, Arjun Thorat, Rahul More, Shiva Gaikwad, Anis Shaikh, Satappa Patil, Nitin Babar, and Sagar More.
Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to uncover the origin of the firearm and assess whether it was linked to any criminal activity or network.
