Pune: In a major development in the Porsche accident case that shook Pune, the Maharashtra Medical Council has revoked the medical licenses of two doctors—Dr. Ajay Tawre and Dr. Shrihari Halnor—who were found guilty of tampering with the blood samples of the minor accused. The council has taken this step as an interim action until a final decision is reached.
The incident occurred on the night of May 19, 2024, when a minor, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was returning from a party in a Porsche and rammed into a two-wheeler, resulting in the tragic deaths of a young man and woman. The accused is the son of a prominent real estate developer from Pune. The case triggered widespread public outrage, especially due to allegations of political interference to shield the minor.
Investigations revealed that instead of collecting the minor’s blood samples, the two doctors at Sassoon General Hospital had allegedly taken his mother’s samples to manipulate the report. Following this, Pune Police arrested ten individuals, including the minor’s parents and the two doctors.
The police requested the Maharashtra Medical Council to take action against the accused doctors, leading to the revocation of their licenses. The decision underscores the seriousness of the charges and the demand for strict accountability.
In a bizarre twist, the minor accused was initially sentenced to writing an essay as a form of punishment, sparking further public anger and calls for stricter legal action. Pune Police have registered three separate cases in connection with the incident, and the demand for harsh punishment for all those involved continues to grow.
