The accused, identified as Sangharsh Ranjit Shejule, has been arrested and remanded to Yerawada Jail following a court order.
According to police, a case of abduction was registered on April 3, 2025, at Bibwewadi Police Station, based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, Saraswati Parameshwar Sanade (32), a resident of Shelke Vasti near Ganpati Mandir in Pune. She reported that her daughter, Maya Parameshwar Sanade, aged 16 years and 9 months, had left home on March 30, 2025, around 2:30 PM, stating she was attending a friend’s wedding. However, she did not return home, and suspicions of abduction were raised.
Acting on intelligence inputs, Sub-Inspector Bharat Wagh received crucial information linking the crime to Sangharsh Ranjit Shejule, a resident of Khadke Vasti, Upper Indiranagar, Bibvewadi. It was further revealed that the girl had been taken to Pusad, District Yavatmal, along with her maternal uncle Sumit Prahlad Kamble (36), a resident of Venikhurd village in Pusad.

The local authorities confirmed the presence of the missing girl and the suspect in their jurisdiction. Following due coordination, a Bibvewadi police team reached Pusad, took the girl and the accused into custody, and brought them back to Pune.
Upon her return, the rescued minor underwent a medical examination at Sassoon Hospital, where it was confirmed that she is pregnant. The accused, Sangharsh Ranjit Shejule, was immediately arrested, and further legal action was initiated.
