Pune: A first-year student from Navalmal Firodia Law College (NFLC) was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in his room at Fergusson College Hostel on Thursday morning, raising alarm over student well-being and mental health. The student has been identified as Bhushan Domane.
According to Dr. Sunita Jadhav, Principal of NFLC, Bhushan was academically strong and had never shown signs of academic pressure. “He was one of our bright students. We are deeply shocked and saddened,” she said, adding that the college will conduct an internal inquiry to determine the cause behind the tragic incident.
Bhushan’s friends reportedly became concerned when he failed to respond to knocks on his door. Upon entering the room, they found him unresponsive, with medicine tablets scattered nearby. The hostel staff were immediately alerted and forced the door open. Bhushan was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Sources close to the student revealed that Bhushan had become increasingly withdrawn in recent months, often isolating himself from others. Dr. Jadhav offered condolences to the family and emphasized the importance of understanding the circumstances behind the incident.
Authorities have begun further investigation, and postmortem results are awaited to confirm the cause of death.
