Pune: A headless corpse was recently discovered in the Shirgaon area near Varandha Ghat. The Local Crime Branch of the Rural Police swiftly identified the deceased and cracked the murder case within 12 hours, arresting two suspects in the process.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh alias Pramod Raghunath Pasalkar, aged 40, a resident of Vadgaon Budruk, Haveli taluka. The two arrested individuals have been named as Santosh Bhiku Pisal (42, of Vadgaon Budruk, originally from Ranje village, Bhor taluka) and Aniket Chandrakant Pisal (29, from Ambegaon Khurd). The case was registered at the Bhor Police Station based on a complaint filed by village police patil Sudhir Ramchandra Dighe (52, resident of Warwand, Bhor taluka).

According to police reports, on April 25, a headless male body was found in a field near Janani Mata Temple in Shirgaon. A local who had gone to graze cattle discovered the body and alerted the village police patil Dighe. Police officials from Bhor Police Station then visited the scene and confirmed that the individual had been murdered. A formal case was registered.

The Local Crime Branch initiated an investigation and received information that Santosh Pasalkar had been missing for two days. It was also discovered that he had a previous altercation with a relative, Santosh Pisal, due to a longstanding dispute. Pisal was detained and, upon questioning, confessed to committing the murder along with Aniket. Both were subsequently arrested. A court has remanded the suspects to police custody.

The investigation is being led by Police Inspector Anna Pawar of Bhor Police Station. The case was solved under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent Ganesh Biradar, and SDPO Tanaji Barde. Officers involved in the operation include Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, Assistant Inspector Dattajirao Mohite, Sub-Inspector Hanumant Pasalkar, Constables Amol Shedge, Balasaheb Khadke, Mangesh Bhagat, Dhiraj Jadhav, and Officer Dharmaveer Khande.
