A woman’s bag containing jewelry, a mobile phone, and cash was stolen by an unknown thief while she was boarding an ST bus at Swargate bus station. The incident took place on Sunday, June 1, and a case has been registered with Swargate police.
Snehal Sanjay Khopkar (39), a resident of Ambegaon, filed the complaint at Swargate police station. According to her statement, she had come to the bus station around 3:30 PM to travel from Pune to her hometown. Taking advantage of the crowded situation at the station, the thief managed to snatch gold and silver jewelry, her mobile phone, and cash from the bag she was carrying on her shoulder.
Upon noticing the theft, the woman promptly reported it to the police. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and track down the culprit. The case is being handled by Assistant Police Inspector Patil.
This is not an isolated incident, as thefts targeting passengers’ valuables have reportedly increased in the Swargate area due to heavy crowding. Local residents have urged the police to increase patrolling and implement stricter security measures to curb such crimes in the future.
