Pune: In a heartbreaking incident, 28-year-old resident doctor Shyam Vora was discovered dead in his room at the doctors’ hostel of Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune, late Sunday evening. The tragic discovery was made around 10 PM after a prolonged period of silence raised concerns.
Security personnel forced open the room door after noticing it had remained closed unusually long, only to find Dr. Vora hanging inside. He was affiliated with the renowned Ruby Hall Clinic, where he had been working as a resident doctor.
The Koregaon Park Police have launched a formal investigation. While the exact circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, a handwritten note found at the scene reportedly included the password to Dr. Vora’s mobile phone. Authorities are now examining the phone for potential clues.
Dr. Vora’s family, who reside in Gujarat, have requested that no procedural action be taken until they reach Pune. The police have respected this request and will continue their investigation in line with the family’s wishes.
Ruby Hall Clinic has responded to the incident with an official statement. Legal Advisor Manjusha Kulkarni expressed sorrow over the loss, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of our resident doctor, Dr. Shyam Vora, who appears to have died by suicide. The matter is now in the hands of the police for a thorough investigation.”
Addressing circulating rumors, Kulkarni added, “There have been media reports hinting at alleged workplace harassment. We firmly state that these claims are baseless and inaccurate. We urge both the public and media to avoid speculation until the authorities conclude their inquiry.”
The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community, prompting renewed conversations around mental health support for healthcare professionals.
