Pune: In a devastating accident early Monday morning, a car carrying nine passengers fell into a 100-foot gorge in Varandha Ghat, located on the Bhor-Mahad road. The mishap claimed one life and left eight others injured, with several victims reported to be in critical condition
The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. near Umberde village when the car, was traveling from Mahad to Bhor. According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle on the steep and winding road, resulting in the tragic plunge.
Emergency services, including local authorities and rescue teams, swiftly arrived at the scene, aiding the injured and transporting them to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
The accident has highlighted the risks associated with traveling through the treacherous terrain of Varandha Ghat, a region notorious for its sharp curves and steep descents. The tragedy has prompted renewed calls for enhanced road safety measures in the area.
