Mumbai: Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe has taken serious note of the ongoing harassment allegations made by Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta and has formally appealed to the National Commission for Women (NCW) to intervene immediately. In her written representation, Dr. Gorhe has demanded swift action to ensure Tanushree’s safety and legal support.
In a recent video posted on social media, Tanushree Dutta alleged that she has been subjected to consistent harassment in her own home since 2020. She described disturbing incidents such as loud banging on her door, shouting outside her residence, suspicious tampering with her drinking water, thefts, and the misuse of domestic help to mentally torture her. These acts, she claimed, have left her mentally disturbed and in constant fear for her safety.
Dr. Gorhe, in her memorandum to the NCW, stressed the need for immediate investigation into the actress’s allegations. She urged the Commission to coordinate with local police authorities to initiate a formal inquiry and provide Tanushree with legal and psychological assistance. “Given the deteriorating health and emotional well-being of the actress, immediate institutional response is essential,” she stated.
“It is imperative that the dignity and safety of this renowned actress are preserved with utmost urgency and care,” Dr. Gorhe asserted, adding that the NCW must act swiftly and decisively to address the matter.
In her video, Tanushree also alluded to past allegations she made in 2018 against veteran actor Nana Patekar. While she did not name him directly this time, she alleged that since her accusations in 2018, her life has taken a dark turn. “Before 2018, I never experienced stalking, harassment, or accidents. Now, every problem I face is being linked to what I revealed in 2018. This is not just about one individual — it’s a whole mafia gang in Bollywood that’s trying to ruin me,” she claimed. “I can’t name them, but they clearly have a problem with me.”
