India Bike Week 2025 — one of Asia’s largest and most influential motorcycling festivals — is facing intense scrutiny after its sudden relocation from Goa to Panchgani. Traditionally held in Vagator, the festival has now entered an unusual crisis affecting visitors, organisers, sponsors, and exhibitors simultaneously.
What Happened?
The 2025 edition was initially scheduled for 12–13 December in Vagator, Goa. Tickets opened early, the response was strong, and thousands of riders booked hotels, flights, ferries, and group rides months ahead.
The first disruption occurred on 16 October, when the festival was postponed due to Zilla Parishad elections. New dates — 19–20 December — were declared on 19 October.
However, November brought deeper uncertainty.
Election-related restrictions, unresolved permissions, and pending court matters kept the Goa venue unstable. Rider communities began speculating about a shift to Panchgani, but organisers remained silent.
On 30 November, the speculation ended:
India Bike Week 2025 was officially shifted to Panchgani.

Who Is Responsible?
The disruption appears to arise from several overlapping external pressures:
1. Election Schedule and Administrative Restrictions
Local elections clashed with event dates and required multiple clearances.
2. Pending Court Decisions and Delayed Approvals
Critical permissions for a large festival remained uncertain through November.
3. On-Ground Operational Limitations in Goa
Vendors, logistics teams, and site preparation could not proceed without approvals.
Given the constraints, organisers were compelled to relocate to ensure the event could still take place.
Impact on Visitors
The sudden venue shift caused widespread disruption:
- Non-refundable peak-season hotel bookings in Goa
- Prepaid travel across air, rail, and ferry routes
- Pre-planned convoys and long-distance rides requiring redesign
- Extra expenses for new stays and transport
- Disturbed year-end schedules and leave plans
Thousands of attendees now face complete re-planning at the last minute.
Impact on Organisers
Organisers faced equally significant challenges:
- Wasted vendor agreements and groundwork done in Vagator
- Disrupted artist schedules and rehearsals
- Idle logistics during November’s uncertain period
- Additional costs for redoing infrastructure for a new venue
- Need for fresh permissions, new design layouts, and redirected materials
- Pressure-heavy renegotiations with partners and sponsors
The entire festival blueprint is now being rebuilt in a compressed window.
Impact on Sponsors and Stall Holders
Sponsors and exhibitors were also heavily affected:
- Branding layouts created for Goa became unusable
- Merchandise, display units, and materials already shipped to Goa must be redirected
- Local vendor collaborations in Goa collapsed
- Pre-event marketing investments need rework
- New transport and redesign costs emerged
- Early-season sales opportunities tied to Goa’s tourist traffic were lost
Many sponsors and stall owners now face financial losses running into lakhs.
