Pune: Police have arrested two fugitives involved in the murder case of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog in Beed district. The main accused, Sudarshan Ghule and Sudhir Sangle, who had been absconding for over a month, were apprehended in Pune.
A special investigation team from Beed police was formed to track down the accused. Using confidential informants and technical expertise, the team arrested Sudarshan Chandrabhan Ghule (26, resident of Takli, Kej taluka) and Sudhir Gnyanoba Sangle (23, resident of Takli, Kej taluka). The accused are now in the custody of the Beed Crime Investigation Department, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Gujar.
Previously, the police had arrested Vishnu Chate, Pratik Ghule, and Mahesh Kedar in connection with the case. Three others, including Sudarshan Ghule, Sudhir Sangle, and Krishna Andhale, were on the run. While two of them have now been caught, Krishna Andhale remains at large.
Santosh Deshmukh was murdered on December 9, and since then, the main accused had been evading arrest. Further investigation is ongoing.
