The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has revamped the format of entrance exams for three-year and five-year law courses in the state. These exams will now follow the pattern of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Additionally, the duration of the CET exams has been reduced to two hours, and the total marks have been brought down from 150 to 120.

Three-Year Law Course:
Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning: 24 marks
General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 32 marks
Logical and Analytical Questions: 24 marks
English: 40 marks
Five-Year Law Course:
Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning: 32 marks
General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 24 marks
Logical and Analytical Questions: 32 marks
English: 24 marks
Mathematics: 8 marks
Student Enrollment Data
In the academic year 2023-24, a total of 52,742 students registered for the three-year law course, which offers 19,341 seats. Out of these, 49,287 students applied for admission, and 18,748 students were admitted, leaving 593 seats vacant.
Similarly, for the five-year law course, 34,766 students registered for 12,731 seats. Among them, 26,754 students appeared for the examination, and 9,438 secured admission.
The changes in the exam pattern aim to align the CET law entrance exams more closely with national standards, making them more competitive and streamlined.
