Pune: Just two days after celebrating her 17th birthday, girl’s life was tragically cut short in a devastating road accident. Riding pillion on a bike, she suffered severe head injuries in the crash.
She was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to Manipal Hospital in Baner, where doctors declared her brain dead.
In the face of overwhelming grief, girl’s parents, daily wage laborers from Narayangaon, made an incredibly brave decision — to donate their daughter’s organs, giving the gift of life to others. Through their heartbreaking loss, they found the strength to help save others’ lives.
“We had no choice but to accept that our daughter was gone, but we took solace in knowing that her organs could still help others,” Girl’s father shared through tears. “We prayed that her donation would bring joy to families struggling to save their loved ones.”
According to the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC), girl’s organs were allocated according to medical guidelines. Her kidneys were donated to two women — one at Manipal Hospital, Baner, and the other, along with her pancreas, to a 37-year-old patient at Jupiter Hospital. Her liver was split in two: one portion was transplanted to a five-year-old boy at Sahyadri Hospital, Deccan Gymkhana, while the other saved a 43-year-old man at Sahyadri Hospital, Nagar Road. Her lungs were successfully transplanted into a 33-year-old woman at DY Patil Medical College.
