Pune: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Maharashtra Combined Group B Preliminary Examination held on February 2 is at the center of a major scandal after explosive call recordings surfaced, exposing a bribery racket demanding Rs 40 lakh for access to the exam question paper and answers.

The conspiracy appears to have originated in Vidarbha, sparking questions about whether the mastermind is operating from within the region or beyond. Emerging reports suggest a woman officer could be a key player in the operation. While the police have not officially confirmed this, they have assured the public that all angles are being thoroughly investigated.

In a swift response, the Pune police crime branch arrested two suspects, while a third, Yogesh Surendra Waghmare, was apprehended from Nagpur for questioning. Rajendra Mulik,

Assistant Police Commissioner, confirmed, “Yogesh Waghmare has been brought to Pune, and we are interrogating him thoroughly. We are investigating all aspects of the case and pursuing leads to identify the mastermind.”
The call recordings revealed conversations between the suspects demanding a bribe of Rs 40 lakh in exchange for the question paper and answer sheet of the MPSC Group B examination. The police action led to the arrest of two individuals within 48 hours, while Waghmare was brought to Pune for further investigation. However, two other suspects, brothers Ashish Kulpe and Pradeep Kulpe, are still on the run.

Further investigations suggest the involvement of a woman officer who is reportedly connected to the Kulpe brothers. Sources allege that the brothers acted under her instructions, driven by her greed. It is suspected that she used them to carry out the illegal operation.

As police continue to probe, they anticipate more shocking revelations that could shed light on the full scale of the scam and the woman officer’s role in it. The case has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the MPSC examination process.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that they are committed to uncovering the truth behind this massive bribery racket.
