Pune: Between May 28 and May 31, 2025, a total of 347 traffic rule violations were captured by the AI-powered surveillance system recently installed on Fergusson College (FC) Road, as per the Pune City Traffic Police.
The recorded offences include 74 instances of vehicles parked in no-parking zones, 155 cases of double parking, 81 incidents of wrong-side driving, and 37 cases of triple riding on two-wheelers.
This monitoring system is part of a pilot initiative introduced earlier in May by the Pune City Traffic Police. The goal is to use artificial intelligence to enhance road discipline. The smart cameras are designed to autonomously identify violations and generate e-challans, reducing the dependency on manual enforcement.
Officials noted that this advanced system contributes to improving overall traffic management and road safety while discouraging dangerous driving habits. The 24/7 monitoring capability ensures faster response to infractions and consistent enforcement.
Pune Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to adhere to traffic regulations, stressing that the technology is meant to create a safer commuting environment for everyone.
“Responsible driving is everyone’s duty. Let’s work together to make our roads safer,” an official remarked.
