Pune: Air India, owned by the Tata Group, has announced temporary reductions across its narrowbody flight schedule to bolster operational stability and minimize last-minute cancellations. The revised plan will remain in place until July 15, 2025, and will impact both domestic routes and short-haul international services.
Among the most significant changes is the complete suspension of the daily Pune–Singapore service (AI2111/2110), as well as Bengaluru–Singapore (AI2392/2393) and Mumbai–Bagdogra (AI551/552).
While these cancellations affect only a small proportion — under 5% — of Air India’s total narrowbody flights, the airline will continue operating approximately 600 daily departures across over 120 regional and domestic destinations.
Additionally, several other routes will see reduced frequencies until mid-2025. Routes like Bengaluru–Chandigarh will drop from 14 to 7 weekly flights, while popular connections between Delhi and Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Pune will also see weekly service scaled back. Similar reductions will apply to various sectors from Mumbai, including flights to Kochi, Varanasi, Bengaluru, and Goa.
To support affected travelers, Air India is contacting passengers directly, offering options such as full refunds, rescheduling, or complimentary rebooking on alternate flights. Updated timetables have already been published across the airline’s websites and booking channels.
This move follows earlier cutbacks on Air India’s long-haul network due to safety checks on its Boeing 787 and 777 fleet, as well as airspace restrictions across the Middle East. Flights to Europe, North America, East Asia, and Australia — including routes to Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, Chicago, London, and Tokyo — have also been trimmed in response.
Air India emphasized that these measures aim to improve its overall performance and ensure a smoother travel experience. The company expects to return to its full schedule once all safety and operational checks have been completed.
