Pune : Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, broke his silence on the growing calls for the resignation of Minister Dhananjay Munde, following the shocking murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the Sarpanch from Massajog village in Beed’s Kegaon taluka. The murder has garnered significant attention, particularly due to the alleged involvement of Valmik Karad, an associate of Munde, which has fueled opposition demands for the minister’s resignation.
During a media interaction in Pune, Pawar emphasized that three separate agencies—the SIT, CID, and a judicial inquiry—are actively investigating the case. He reassured that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty, but also cautioned against making accusations without concrete evidence. Pawar made it clear that the government would not support the guilty, and those responsible for the crime would face severe legal consequences.
Pawar acknowledged the brutality of the murder, asserting that such incidents would not be tolerated in Maharashtra. He reiterated that the government was taking the matter very seriously and would ensure that justice prevails. He also urged both ruling and opposition leaders to present solid evidence before making any further claims, stressing that accusations without proof could lead to unjust outcomes.
Addressing the calls for Munde’s resignation, Pawar emphasized that Minister Dhananjay Munde had denied any involvement in the incident and advocated for a thorough investigation. Pawar further pointed out that he had discussed the issue with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and reiterated that no one, regardless of their political position, should be spared if found guilty.
Additionally, Pawar mentioned that discussions had been held with state BJP leaders, including Chandrashekhar Bawankule, about the ongoing investigation. He assured that the three investigating agencies are collaborating closely and that any inconsistencies in their findings will be thoroughly examined.
Pawar also addressed concerns over the delay in apprehending the accused, acknowledging that there had been some lag in identifying the culprits. He assured the public that the investigation is still ongoing, with a thorough review of the suspects’ phone records and other evidence in progress.
Pawar concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to justice, stressing that Maharashtra, guided by the principles of Shiv, Shahu, Phule, and Ambedkar, will not tolerate such incidents and will take decisive action against those responsible, free from political influence.
