New Delhi: In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian government has intensified its defence readiness by cancelling all leave for personnel working in the nation’s arms and ammunition production facilities. This urgent measure covers all 41 ordnance factories and 7 ammunition depots supplying the Indian Armed Forces.
A formal directive issued from New Delhi on Friday afternoon instructed staff at these installations—including the prominent factories and depots at Dehu Road and Khadki in Pune—to return to their posts immediately, regardless of prior leave approvals.
Defence officials have confirmed that India currently holds adequate ammunition reserves across its depots to meet short- to mid-term operational demands. Additionally, key supplies have already been positioned along strategic border locations. Nevertheless, in anticipation of any increased requirements, the recall aims to ramp up production and ensure uninterrupted supply.
This move signals the country’s proactive stance on national security, highlighting its resolve to maintain a high level of preparedness in the face of growing threats.
