Pune: In a significant crackdown, the Anti-Narcotics Squad seized 11.18 kg of marijuana worth ₹5.69 lakh from Sus village under the jurisdiction of Bavdhan Police Station on Sunday, February 2, around 5 p.m.
Namdev Sampat Mane (53), a resident of Sus village and originally from Satara, was arrested during the operation. A case has also been registered against Sameer Shaikh, a resident of Bhukum, Mulshi, who is accused of supplying the contraband.
Acting on a tip-off about a person attempting to sell marijuana near the Bhairavnath Temple in Sus village, the police laid a trap and apprehended Mane. Upon interrogation, Mane revealed that he had procured the marijuana from Sameer Shaikh for distribution.
A formal complaint was filed by Police Officer Javed Baghsiraj at Bavdhan Police Station. Further investigations are underway to trace the entire supply chain and identify other possible connections.
