Pune: The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have detained a Bangladeshi national residing illegally in the Ambegaon Khurd area of Katraj. The action was taken on Saturday, March 8, following intelligence inputs about his illegal stay in the city.
The accused has been identified as Riyazul Mamarul Mulla (25), currently residing in Ambegaon Khurd. A case has been registered against him under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, the Passport Act, and the Foreigners Order Act. The complaint in this regard was filed by Police Havaldar Ravindra Chippa at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.
According to the police report, the accused is a Bangladeshi citizen who had been staying illegally in the Ambegaon Khurd area. Upon receiving specific information, the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police initiated an investigation and detained him from the location on Saturday. Following the detention, a case was formally registered against him late at night. The investigation is being led by Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde.
Authorities are now probing how the accused managed to enter India illegally. Previously, similar cases have been reported in Pune, with Bangladeshi intruders being arrested from Maharshinagar in Swargate and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
This latest action highlights the Pune Police’s continued efforts to curb illegal immigration and unauthorized stays in the city.
