Baramati: A town planner from Baramati Municipal Corporation, Kisanrao Dhekale, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe. A case has been registered against him at the Baramati City Police Station.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a 45-year-old construction businessman who accused Dhekale of demanding a bribe for the approval of a housing project proposal. Initially, Dhekale asked for ₹2 lakh, but after negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₹1.75 lakh. The businessman filed the complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau on March 18th, 2023, at the Pune division.
On March 19th, Dhekale agreed to receive the first installment of ₹1 lakh at “Oxygen Gym” in Baramati, where Anti-Corruption Bureau officials apprehended him while accepting the bribe.
Dhekale has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Superintendent Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Police Superintendent Dr. Sheetal Janve from the Pune Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Superintendent Sardeshpande urged the public to report any instances of bribe demands from public servants or government officers for performing their duties beyond the legal fees, urging immediate contact with the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
