Pune: Around 60 visitors were injured in a bee attack at the historic Shivneri Fort in Pune on Sunday, according to a forest official. Of these, 50 individuals received medical treatment at a nearby hospital. Shivneri Fort, located in Junnar tehsil about 90 kilometers from Pune, is a significant historical site as it is the birthplace of the legendary Maratha king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The fort attracts hundreds of tourists daily.
The incident took place near the Shivai temple within the fort premises. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of youths had thrown stones at a beehive, disturbing the bees and triggering the attack. The sudden provocation caused the bees to swarm and sting nearby visitors.
