Special Correspondent, Pune:
Following the tragic death of pregnant Tanisha Bhise at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, the Bhise family has firmly declined the financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh announced by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Rs 1 lakh announced by Minister Chandrakant Patil. “We don’t want money — we want justice,” said the family in a strong statement.
The family emphasized that strict action must be taken against the doctors and staff found responsible for negligence. They also urged the government to implement strong preventive measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
In addition, the Bhise family has filed a formal complaint at Alankar Police Station in Pune, alleging that the hospital publicly disclosed Tanisha’s private IVF treatment details under the pretext of an internal committee report. This disclosure, according to them, led to defamation and trolling on social media.
They have demanded legal action against the doctors who made the report public without consent.
Taking serious note of the matter, the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission has issued directives to the Pune Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Medical Council to take action against Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital. Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar confirmed the same through a tweet, stating that a complaint was received from Savita Bhise, Tanisha’s mother, regarding the unauthorized disclosure of confidential medical information, which caused immense mental distress to the family.
As pressure mounts, all eyes are now on the investigation and whether justice will be delivered in this highly sensitive and emotionally charged case.
