A tragic road accident near Pune’s Navale Bridge late Sunday night claimed the life of a 28-year-old biker, Kunal Hushar, a resident of Chinchwad. According to eyewitnesses, a speeding Mercedes car rammed into the two-wheeler, killing the rider on the spot. The car reportedly had four occupants, and the driver was allegedly heavily intoxicated.
Despite the fatal crash, the Mercedes did not stop immediately and instead rammed into the side railing of a nearby bridge. A crowd quickly gathered at the scene, and Pune police soon arrived, taking all four occupants of the vehicle into custody. However, the victim’s family has alleged that police are attempting to shield the accused.
“No medical tests have been conducted yet on the driver or the other three passengers. This delay appears to be a deliberate attempt by the police to save them,” a family member said in outrage.
Kunal Hushar, who worked in the IT sector, was reportedly returning home after a work-related errand. His untimely death has left his family devastated. “He had just gone out for some work and was on his way back when tragedy struck,” a grieving family member said.
Eyewitnesses also claimed that empty liquor bottles were found in the car, raising serious suspicions that the occupants were under the influence of alcohol and driving recklessly.
Despite more than 24 hours having passed since the incident, medical tests had still not been conducted on the accused, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the investigation. “Had it been a common man, he would have been tested immediately. But here, it’s a luxury car and money — so the police are turning a blind eye,” alleged another relative.
In response, Pune Police said, “All four accused have been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing. There has been a delay in the medical examination, which we acknowledge. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.”
