Pune: Bomb threat emails targeting schools and institutions have been causing widespread concern across India, with recent incidents reported in Pune, Jodhpur, and Kerala. Despite the ongoing threats, authorities have assured the public that there is no immediate danger and urged people to remain calm.
In Pune, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissionerate received a bomb threat late at night, claiming that a bomb had been planted at a private school in Bavdhan. The principal of the school received the email on the morning of February 13, sparking alarm in the city. The Pune Police quickly responded, sending a bomb detection team to the site. After a thorough search, no suspicious devices were found, and authorities reassured the public that there was no cause for panic.
Police officials confirmed that bomb threat emails are not uncommon, and they have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threat. The department emphasized that such incidents should not lead to widespread anxiety and assured citizens that their safety remains a priority.
In a similar incident, Jodhpur’s AIIMS campus received a bomb threat claiming a suicide attack using RDX. The threat was immediately reported to the Basni Police Station, leading to heightened security measures and thorough checks of the premises. A bomb detection team confirmed that the threat was a hoax, with no explosives found.
Moreover, on February 12, Kerala Police received a bomb threat via their official Facebook page, stating that explosions would occur within 32 hours at Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station and Kochi International Airport. Investigations into this threat are ongoing.
While these threats continue to be a cause of concern, law enforcement agencies across the country are taking swift action to ensure safety and security, urging the public to stay alert but not panic.
