Pimpri Chinchwad: A violent clash broke out in Abhinav Nagar, Juni Sangvi on the night of January 30, following a dispute over a biker overtaking incident. The situation escalated dramatically when a group of youths attacked 21-year-old Aditya Ram Gaikwad with a knife, with apparent intent to kill him. The attackers also damaged two vehicles by throwing stones.
The incident unfolded around 10:35 PM when the assailants, riding three motorcycles, intercepted Gaikwad and began their assault. Amid the attack, Gaikwad was stabbed while the mob hurled stones, leading to significant damage on nearby parked vehicles. During the fray, the perpetrators loudly proclaimed their association with the infamous Shubham Naware gang and warned that any opposition would be met with similar violence.
In the aftermath, Gaikwad filed a complaint at the Sangvi police station on January 31. Swift police action resulted in the arrest of five individuals: Omkar Santosh Rahatule (19), Samyak Ajit Lokhande (19), Atharv Anil Lad (20), Ayush Sachin Bhosale (19), and Garunath Subhash Birajdar (21). Additionally, four minors have been implicated in the incident.
The arrested individuals face charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder, property damage, and instigating public fear. The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Yuvraj Kalkutge.
