Pune: In an aggressive move to tackle illegal activities in Pune’s Koregaon Park area, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and local police have launched a demolition drive targeting unlawful spa centers. The action, aimed at curbing illegal businesses and ensuring public safety, follows numerous complaints from local residents about the increasing number of unauthorized spa centers in the locality.
Several of these spa centers have been reported to be involved in illegal activities, including the prostitution trade. With such businesses operating under the guise of legitimate services, the residents had raised concerns regarding the safety and integrity of the area.
The action was intensified after it was discovered that many of these spa centers were also constructed without the necessary permits. As a result, the PMC, in coordination with the police, decided to demolish these illegal structures as part of a broader effort to restore law and order in the area.
The move is part of the ongoing efforts by local authorities to address the growing problem of illegal establishments operating in prominent residential areas like Koregaon Park, ensuring that such businesses are brought under scrutiny and are held accountable. The crackdown aims to improve the quality of life for local residents and maintain the reputation of one of Pune’s most well-known neighborhoods.
