Pune: In a major crackdown on illegally modified Bullet silencers, Pune police crushed 1,768 such silencers under a bulldozer. The drive aims to curb noise pollution caused by modified silencers that produce loud, disruptive sounds, disturbing citizens.
Instances of reckless riding, especially by Bullet riders using modified silencers, have increased across Pune. Many riders install these illegal silencers to create loud noises and attract attention while speeding through public roads and residential areas. This has led to numerous complaints from senior citizens, women, and peace-loving residents.
Acting on these complaints, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar ordered strict action against violators. Following his directives, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zhende launched a special drive against such silencers. All traffic divisions were instructed to take action, leading to the large-scale seizure and destruction of modified silencers.
DCP Zhende also warned that garages selling and installing these illegal silencers would face strict action in the future. The campaign aims to ensure compliance with traffic laws and reduce noise pollution in the city.
